1. We will only give your information to third parties if they have a court order that is valid in the United States to request it. We will challenge any court order that does not appear to be legitimate. We ignore friendly requests and any court orders outside of their juristiction.
2. In order to view our site statistics, we use the Counterize II plugin. This collects your Browser Type/Version, the URL you visited, when you visited it, and the URL you came from. It does not store your IP address. The information is hashed and then put into our database so we can verify if hits are unique or not. Your data does not go to a Counterize Service or anything of that nature. We have disabled Apache’s server logs and all the Wordpress logging we could. We can not promise you that our or your ISP does not keep logs, however we are hosted by NearlyFreeSpeech.Net, a host with a good track record and a good privacy policy. We may occasionally log IP addresses for diagnostic purposes but they will be deleted right after. We will only log IP addresses if the site is having problems and such logging will be reported on the main page, unless a court order prevents us from doing so.
3. We use the reCaptcha plugin in order to stop spam. Theoretically, reCaptcha could log information about our visitors but this is highly unlikely due to the amount of traffic and logs this would generate. reCaptcha is used by thousands of high-traffic sites and as a result, you gain anonymity.
4. If you register at this site, we collect your username, email address, and any other information which you provide to us by typing it in.
5. We store PHP session IDs in your cookies, which help us see who you are. These are deleted when you close your browser. If you are registered and select “remember me”, they will not be cleared.
6. We do not offer HTTPS/SSL connections because our host does not offer them.
7. All updates to this privacy policy will be posted on the site for users to review at least one week before the changes are implemented.
Basically, you’re safe with us. Unfortunately, your ISP, our ISP, and all of the other middlemen don’t operate by the same rules we do. We encourage you to look into software such as Tor if you are interested in protecting your anonymity online. A court order may require us to start logging IP addresses and keep quiet about it, however we will fight any such order.
